National Distribution & Contracting Inc. has begun shipping Becton-Dickinson products to its members from its Nashville, TN, warehouse.

'This puts every distributor on an equal par,' says Ron Fleitz, managing director, StarLine Dealers Association. NDC will carry BD's needles and syringes, surgical products and VACUTAINER brand blood-collection systems, or a potential of 4,300 SKUs.

The addition of BD is a boon to NDC, which began shipping Johnson & Johnson Medical products two years ago. The volume of J&J products flowing through the warehouse climbed 53% in the last two quarters, said Lee Weber, director of distribution sales for Johnson & Johnson Medical.

NDC represents 200 dealers in three cooperatives: StarLine, ABCO and CIDA. Its warehouse allows members who may not be able to meet manufacturers' minimum re-quirements to buy products cost-effectively. For its part, a BD spokesperson said the company is looking forward to its relationship with NDC, calling it a win for BD and NDC members
