Claflin Medical Equipment names K.C. Meleski national sales manager, Dan Mueller as regional manager

Claflin Medical Equipment (Warwick, RI) named K.C. Meleski as its new national sales manager, effective August 2013. Meleski previously served as an account manager for equipment in New England since 2001. Claflin also appointed Dan Mueller as its regional manager for the St. Louis Branch in the Midwest Region.

IMCO announces new VP of national accounts

Independent Medical Co-op, Inc. (IMCO) (Daytona Beach, Fla.) announced the appointment of Bob McCart as vice president of national accounts. McCart comes to IMCO with 38 years of healthcare industry experience, including 21 years in various roles with PSS World Medical (now part of McKesson Medical-Surgical). While VP of Strategic Corporate Partners for the last seven years at PSS, he led a team of leaders and directors who managed executive-level relationships with GPOs who held a relationship with the Physician Sales and Service division of PSS World Medical.

Owens & Minor names new president

Owens & Minor Inc (Mechanicsville, Va.) promoted James L. Bierman to president and COO, effective Aug. 1, 2013. Bierman has served as EVP and COO since March 2012, after serving as SVP and CFO since he joined the company in 2007. Craig R. Smith, who previously held the title of chairman, president, and CEO, will remain as chairman and CEO.

LABSCO makes $14,000 donation to Ronald McDonald House Charities

LABSCO (Louisville, Ky.), made a $14,000 philanthropic donation to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kentuckiana (Louisville, Ky.). LABSCO raised the funds through several events called “Give Back Nights” for its employees. LABSCO matched the money raised through the events, as well as donations from individuals and corporate partners. The donation will help provide vital services at the Ronald McDonald House, so the group can continue to provide a home-away-from-home for families whose children are receiving desperately needed medical treatment at some of Louisville’s top healthcare facilities.

Bovie Medical names new customer service manager

Bovie Medical Corporation appointed Kevin Holmes as its new customer service manager. Holmes has been with the company for more than two years as the technical/clinical specialist and has more than 15 years of experience in the biomedical field. Holmes replaces Caryl Dinkelman, who served as customer service manager for the last 16 years. Holmes will maintain his responsibilities as technical/clinical specialist in his new role

Hologic names new president and chief executive officer

Hologic Inc (Bedford, Mass.) named Jack W. Cumming as president and CEO, effective immediately. Cumming joined Hologic in 2001 and previously served as CEO from 2001 to 2009. He succeeds Robert A. Cascella, who stepped down for personal reasons. Cascella will stay on as an advisor to Hologic through the end of November 2013.

Vincent Caponi joins Welch Allyn board of directors

Welch Allyn (Skaneateles Falls, N.Y.) named Vincent C. Caponi to its board of directors. Caponi is currently executive chairman of the board at Saint Vincent Health (Indianapolis, Ind.) and an SVP at Ascension Health (St. Louis, Mo.), and has more than 38 years of experience in the healthcare industry.

MDSI announces Fall Healthcare Supplier/Provider Institute dates

MDSI (Lawrenceville, Ga.) and the Journal of Healthcare Contracting will host the Fall Healthcare Supplier/Provider Institute on October 29-30, in Dallas, Texas. During this meeting, speakers will discuss topics including:
