Terumo Medical Award Winners
Terumo Medical Products recognized the 2011 President’s Club Award winners at its recent National Sales Meeting in Scottsdale. The President’s Club recognizes outstanding performance for bringing value to distributor partners and clinicians via field support and programs.
Jonathan Roberts, Territory Manager out of Atlanta, and Sarah Patak, Territory Manager in Florida, were recognized as the top performing Territory Managers for 2011. Roberts finished No. 1 to plan by bringing strong economic and clinical value to his Distributors and Primary Care clinicians. Patak’s creativity and vision drove significant new business in her territory. Both Roberts and Patak are first time winners.
Also recognized was Judy Pearlman, National Accounts Manager. Judy, a 21 year veteran with Terumo, was recognized for her accomplishments in both the Primary Care and Veterinary segments. This is Judy’s second time as a President’s Club winner.
Finally, Mimi Hobson, Territory Manager out of Mississippi, won her second consecutive President’s Club award. Mimi was recognized in 2011 as the Repertoire/HIDA Excellence in Sales manufacturer rep award winner, nominated by multiple Distributor partners for her dedication and efforts.
Owens & Minor University receives CorpU Awards
Owens & Minor Inc announced that Owens & Minor University (OMU), its in-house learning and training center, was honored with three awards at the 13th Annual Corporate University Xchange (CorpU) Awards for Excellence and Innovation. The CorpU Awards for Excellence and Innovation honor corporate, non-profit and government learning organizations that improve both business and employee performance through Alignment, Alliances, Branding, Launching, Leadership Development, Learning Technology, and Measurement. OMU was honored for Leadership Development – Exemplary Practice Award for its Academy for Strategic Leadership; Alliances – Excellence Award for its educational partnership with the United States Army Medical Materiel Agency; and Launching –Excellence Award for OMU Field Certification Programs.
BD names CEO Forlenza as chairman of the board
BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) announced that president and CEO Vincent A. Forlenza will assume additional responsibility as chairman of the board, effective July 1, 2012. He was appointed by the board of directors and will succeed Edward J. Ludwig, who is retiring from BD. Forlenza joined BD in 1980, was named president in 2009, and became CEO in October 2011.
Midmark announces two expansion plans
Midmark Corporation announced plans for an estimated 100,000-square-foot expansion of two plants in Versailles, Ohio, which currently boasts about 320,000 square foot. The additional space will allow Midmark to improve materials management processes and add new equipment. The project is scheduled for completion in late 2013. Midmark also announced plans for new offices in Dayton, Ohio. The facility will be named Midmark Center because it will be centrally located between its Versailles campus and Midmark Connect, a specialized facility focused on innovative healthcare technology and services located in West Chester, Ohio. Midmark is in discussions to lease office space at the technology-focused Tech Town complex, and the plan to open offices is dependent upon successful negotiations and the approval of a pending grant application. About 60 positions will be moved to Dayton from Versailles beginning in late 2012. Versailles will remain Midmark’s largest site, housing manufacturing, a variety of associated support functions, and the customer experience department.
Welch Allyn employee wins MACNY’s first Innovator of the Year Award
Welch Allyn announced Tom Szumloz, a manufacturing engineering manager of new product development at Welch Allyn, was selected as the first-ever recipient of the Innovator of the Year Award by the Manufacturers Association of Central New York (MACNY). This award recognizes an individual within a company who consistently demonstrates forward thinking ideas in the areas of technology, innovation and advancement of products and production.
PharMedCorp announces passing of Jim McConnaughy
PharMedCorp announced that Jim McConnaughy, longtime director of operations at PharMedCorp and Randolph Medical, has passed away. His career began with PharMedCorp in the early 1970s. In 1983 he went on to work in purchasing for HealthCo, Fraiberg & Smith and Randolph Medical until their acquisition in 1995. He eventually returned to PharMedCorp and has served as director of operations since 2001. Contributions may be made in his memory to the Parma Animal Shelter, 6260 State Rd, Parma, OH 44134. Eli Coury, PharMedCorp’s owner called McConnaughy “more than just a valued employee but a friend to many at PharMed and in this industry. He was the embodiment of someone who cared about the company, his co-workers and the customer. He was a problem solver and a doer who never complained. We will miss him terribly.”
