Cardinal Health appoints Kaufmann, Harty and Gomez
Dublin, Ohio-based Cardinal Health announced the appointment of Michael C. Kaufmann as group president of its healthcare supply chain services medical segment. Kaufmann will report to Mark W. Parrish, CEO of the company’s healthcare supply chain services sector. Kaufmann replaces Thomas M. Slagle, who is leaving Cardinal Health to pursue other interests. Kaufmann was most recently the CFO of healthcare supply chain services. Linda S. Harty replaces Kaufmann as executive VP, finance and CFO of healthcare supply chain services. Harty has served as treasurer of Cardinal Health since joining the company in January 2005. Jorge M. Gomez, formerly VP and assistant treasurer, succeeds Harty as the company’s senior VP and treasurer.
ADC names Umscheid Western regional manager
Hauppauge, N.Y.-based American Diagnostic Corp. appointed Steven A. Umscheid as its Western regional sales manager. Previously, Umscheid worked for Tanita Corp. He will be responsible for overseeing sales for ADC in 11 Western states, including Hawaii and Alaska.
VIASYS Healthcare Inc. COO assumes additional role of group president, VIASYS NeuroCare
Conshohocken, Pa.-based VIASYS Healthcare Inc. announced that Edward Pulwer, VIASYS' Chief Operating Officer, has assumed the additional role of group president for VIASYS NeuroCare. Pulwar previously led the respiratory diagnostics and critical care businesses within VIASYS. His early career included key leadership roles in sales and marketing.
New GE Healthcare rep in North Florida
Idaho Springs, Colo.-based MedTech Associates announced the addition of Justin Goodman as its new manufacturers rep for North Florida. Goodman is a native of Charleston, S.C. and attended Clemson University. He earned a bachelors degree in technical marketing in 2002. Prior to joining MedTech, Goodman was a distributor sales rep for Henry Schein in the Charleston area. He will be the primary rep for GE Healthcare products in the North Florida territory and will live in the Tampa Bay area.
Midmark names Gardner VP of human resources
Versailles, Ohio-based Midmark Corp. announced the appointment of Sharyl Gardner as VP of human resources for Midmark. Gardner most recently served as VP of human resources for Relizon (now WorkflowOne) in Dayton, Ohio, which employed more than 4,000 people in North America at the time. She also brings 18 years of managerial experience from AT&T, a global telecommunications service provider, where she held various leadership positions. Gardner obtained an MBA, as well as a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Dayton. She is a member of the Miami Valley Senior Human Resources Group and The Leadership Dayton Association. Gardner resides in Bellbrook, Ohio, with her husband and has two daughters.
NDC names Dean of Students, announces education schedule 2007
Nashville, Tenn.-based National Distribution & Contracting, Inc. (NDC) announced new leadership and a new course schedule for its sales rep training program — NDC University (NDCU).
Michele Deen, director of marketing, has been named as Dean of Students for NDC University. Deen has been working closely with the NDC Member and Vendor Services team to expand the content and course offering of NDCU. The primary goal is to enhance the educational experience of participating sales reps and provide them necessary insight and confidence to be successful in healthcare distribution sales and service. The program also allows for one-on-one product training with key vendors.

MDG adds Robinson to sales force
Torrance, Calif.-based Midmark Diagnostics Group (MDG) has appointed Chip Robinson to its sales force as a digital diagnostics sales representative serving Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana. In his role, Robinson is responsible for driving the expansion of digital diagnostics adoption to customers with an EMR strategy within his territory. Robinson has more than 15 years of sales experience specializing in cardiology. He has worked in field sales for Cardiodynamics, Quinton, U.S. Surgical and Sensormedics.
CryoSurgery, Inc. promotes Reline as VP of marketing and distributor relations
Nashville, Tenn.-based CryoSurgery Inc. promoted Laura Reline to VP of marketing and distributor relations. Previously, Reline served as marketing manager for CryoSurgery and has been with the company for seven years. Reline will work with distributors to strengthen relationships, while continuing to oversee all of CryoSurgery communications, advertising and marketing.
SunTech Medical promotes Francisco as senior marketing manager
Research Triangle Park, N.C.-based SunTech Medical promoted Tony Francisco to senior marketing manager for international markets. This promotion and Francisco’s relocation to the United Kingdom are due to the increasing demand for SunTech products in the European, Middle East and Asian markets. Francisco was a former product manager for automated blood pressure monitoring for exercise stress testing.
MD International appoints Infante to executive VP, Morales-Perez to executive VP and COO
Doral, Fla.–based MD International announced that Margarita Morales-Perez was appointed executive VP and COO. Morales-Perez has been with MD International since 1999, initially hired as a controller. She demonstrated strong operational and administrative skills which prompted her promotion to the position of CFO in 2002.
Pedro Infante was appointed executive VP of MD. Infante has been with MD International since 1994. He was initially hired as a regional manager, yet due to his strong managerial skills Infante was promoted to general manager in 1995 and to president in the year 2000.
DiaMed promotes Ciccarelli
Canton, Ohio-based DiaMed Inc. announced that Mark Ciccarelli has been named executive VP of sales and business development. Ciccarelli will oversee the sales teams (home medical and supply) and all business development and strategic planning for DiaMed. Prior to accepting the position, Ciccarelli was manager of the North Central Regional U.S. sleep medicine practice for Mansfield, Mass.-based Tyco Healthcare. The departments reporting directly to Ciccarelli will include the home medical sales, customer service, physician supply division sales, customer service teams, telemarketing and marketing.
MMS east division announces promotion of Horowitz
Earth City, Mo.-based MMS announced the promotion of Moshe Horowitz as director of sales for the East Division of MMS, a new position. This position will be responsible for both the hospital and extended care sales teams. The MMS East Division’s area of distribution is primarily the greater New York/New Jersey/Connecticut geography, although it has significant nursing home and home care business outside this area. Horowitz was promoted from the position of extended care sales manager which he has held for the last five years.
Sempermed honors top sales performers
Clearwater, Fla.-based Sempermed USA Inc. recognized members of its sales team for exceptional performance in 2006. On Feb. 23 2007, at the Sempermed Annual Meeting, Aaron Adams was awarded with the “Top Performer — Acute Care” award. Adams has been with Sempermed since June 2004. Huston Pulford was awarded with the “Top Performer — Alternate Care” award. Pulford has been with Sempermed since August 2005.
Rick Grimes was presented with the “Chairman’s Award” as a top performing sales person. This is a unique award because it is based upon results amongst all Sempermed sales groups globally. Grimes has won this award previously in 2003. He has been with Sempermed since May 1998, and has consistently developed his relationships with our key distributors and end-users.
MSD announces promotion of Worthen and Dermanelian
Stoughton, Mass.-based Medical Specialties Distributors LLC announced the promotion of Richard Worthen to executive VP, sales and marketing. Worthen joined MSD in May of 2000 as VP of sales and marketing.
MSD also announced the promotion of Michael Dermanelian to the position of VP, Biomed Operations. Dermanelian will oversee all biomed administration and field operations from MSD’s new facility in Hanover Park, Ill. Dermanelian joined MSD in August of 2006 as a regional sales manager.
B. Braun reorganizes and expands Outpatient Sales Forces
Bethlehem, Pa.-based B. Braun Medical Inc. recently announced the creation of two specialty sales forces to further strengthen the company’s leadership position within the non-acute healthcare community. B. Braun’s new Ambulatory Care Specialists (ACSs), pictured top right with their Outpatient Markets (OPM) Regional Managers at their February 2007 National Sales Meeting, will focus on the ambulatory surgery and oncology markets.
B. Braun’s new Infusion Care Specialists (ICSs), pictured bottom right with OPM’s Regional Managers, will focus on both the home infusion therapy and closed-shop pharmacy markets.
