Tanita Enters the Hospital Scales Market
Tanita Corporation, which provides precision scales to the medical, nutritional and healthcare industries, now offers five new hospital scales that meet the unique needs of medical professionals and patients. Tanita's scale lineup consists of the 2101T Adult Stand-on Scale, the 2450T Wheelchair Scale, the 2500T Wheelchair Scale,
the 2600T Large Wheelchair Scale and the 3101T Handrail Scale. The scales offer various combinations of the features sought by physicians and nurses including portability, the ability to weigh wheelchair-bound patients, safety features such as sturdy handrails and low platforms, and exceptional value. Ranging from $1,500 to $3,000, they are significantly less than other scales manufacturers.
Spectrum Introduces New Line of Laparoscopic Instruments
Spectrum Surgical Instrument's new line of laparoscopic instruments is manufactured in Germany using the latest instrument-making techniques. Spectrum's line of advanced minimally invasive surgical instruments is available in most patterns, including scissors, graspers, needle holders, cautery hooks and more. They're offered in a variety of styles ranging from modular instruments to instruments equipped with a cleaning port, which makes them easy to clean and reassemble.
Donovan Introduces All-in-One Bathing System
Donovan Industries introduces Dawnmist Redi+Wash, which is formulated to cleanse and moisturize the body in healthcare settings when patients are immobile. This all-in-one bathing system is designed to eliminate expensive, time-consuming basin baths. The 8-cloth z-fold system reduces cross-contamination and lessens the potential of infection that can occur when basins or towels are reused. Facilities can see up to 70 percent total cost savings vs. conventional baths in addition to lower infection rates.
Terumo Introduces the SurGuard2 Needle Protection System
Somerset, N.J.-based Terumo Medical Corporation introduces the latest in their SurGuard line of Needle Protection Systems, SurGuard2, compliance with standards for needlestick safety enforced by OSHA. This new safety device has a unique needle-locking mechanism, which helps reduce the risk of needlestick injuries. An audible click lets the user know that the device has been activated and ensures the needle will remain fully engaged in the sheath. It also offers a more streamlined sheath; reduced "dead space" (the sheath is an integral part of the safety device); a ratchet mechanism that positions the sheath so it doesn't obscure the injection site; and a bevel-up, sheath right needle orientation for low-angle injections.
