NEW EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS
Advancing its ongoing commitment to emergency preparedness in the healthcare supply chain, HIDA, the Association for Healthcare Resource & Materials Management (AHRMM) and the Health Industry Group Purchasing Association (HIGPA) created med/surg supply formularies for large-scale chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, explosive or natural disaster events. The tool can be used by distributors to plan for emergencies and to work with customers for the purpose of serving their supply needs. The supply formularies are based on information from multiple hospitals and healthcare systems, and can be customized to fit the needs of each hospital and community. The formularies focus on adult and pediatric patient needs and provide a targeted supply formulary for each emergency event. For a copy of the supply formularies, visit www.HIDAnetwork.com.

SUPPLY CHAIN ADVISORY COUNCIL FORMED
HIDA is please to announce the formation of the Supply Chain Advisory Council. The mission of the council is to gain consensus and to publicize supply chain process guidelines that will result in efficiencies and cost savings. This council will include members from distribution and manufacturing companies as well as GPOs, hospital customers and materials managers, and is intended to be the focal point for a new brand of industry-wide collaboration. Initially, tasks of the council will include standardizing routine processes between trading partners, simplifying processes between trading partners and establishing operational guidelines for routine processes. DISTRIBUTOR OF THE FUTURE PROJECT DEBUTS
In an effort to help members remain competitive in a changing healthcare market, HIDA has initiated the Distributor of the Future project. The project will involve a series of comprehensive interviews with manufacturers, customers and distributors to assess what products and delivery strategies will be in high demand in the next five to 10 years. Likewise, HIDA will work to determine what distribution services will be of value to both customers and manufacturers in the future. Using the Distributor of the Future as a guide, HIDA hopes members will be able to prepare for future trends likely to impact their profitability, including changing delivery models, changing treatment methods and changing customers.
