HIDA Announces MESA Winners:
Edition: April 2002 - Vol 10 Number 04
The Health Industry Distributors Association (HIDA) announced that 3M, Midmark, and Novartis won the 2002 Manufacturer Excellence in Service Award (MESA). The MESA recognizes and honors medical/surgical products manufacturers that support distributor efforts to provide the highest levels of service to customers and to remove costs from the supply chain. The award was presented at the HIDA Executive Conference in Tucson, Arizona on March 14, 2002.
The MESA program, which began in 1995, is part of the HIDA Advisory Councils' focus on improving service between manufacturers and distributors to a level that parallels the service levels required by customers. HIDA member distributors in the hospital, long term care, and physician markets were asked to nominate top manufacturers with the highest service levels based fill rates, lead times, shipment accuracy, financial terms, bar coding, EDI, rebate/contract processing, and responsiveness.
This is 3M's second appearance as a MESA honoree for the hospital market. The company was selected based on its lead time predictability, its 99% shipment accuracy, its excellent payment terms, its bar coding on all units of measure, and its excellent sales support. ''We at 3M are honored to receive this prestigious award,'' said Dennis Ryan, Director of National Accounts, Distribution Operations. ''We would like to dedicate it to all of our customer service and distributor operations employees who work behind the scenes to make possible the results that allowed us to be chosen.''
Midmark is a first-time winner in the physician market. The company was selected based on its excellent sales support, its commitment to the distribution market, its excellent lead time predictability, and its excellent customer service. ''This is a great honor, but one that really should go to our sales and customer service staff,'' said Dick Moorman, Midmark Vice President of Medical Products Sales. ''This was a real team effort.''
Novartis also is a first-time honoree for the long term care market. The company was selected based on its excellent lead time predictability, its 99% shipment accuracy, its excellent sales support, its commitment to EDI, and its commitment to the distribution market. ''We are very thankful to HIDA for the award and for the nomination,'' said Rob Harrington, Novartis Senior Vice President, Sales. ''Customer satisfaction is a key driver of our business and we look forward to continued support of distribution and partnership in 2002.''
